[OPEN] Does anyone have the time to break me down?
Who: Josh and OPEN!
When: Around the middle of Day 2.
What: With a day passed of this place going neither away nor quickly south, Josh bites the bullet and thinks he'll... try settling himself in.
Where: Around, and then the hobby room!
Warnings: Bit of language - will be updated for anything else as needed.
A. Anywhere.
[It's been a whole day.
Or maybe it hasn't, and his head's still - I don't know, out of step? Just... out of it? Hell, he couldn't even tell you how much time it feels like it's been.
But either way, for a period here, it was day, then night, then he eventually managed to get to sleep (it wasn't as if it lasted twelve hours and was full of pleasant dreams, but when he went, he went right out) and he woke up to find it was day again.
He's still here - and finds himself increasingly willing to believe that "here" is an actual place. Possibly a joke of one, and ell-oh-ell, wouldn't that be swift, ironic justice. But... he doesn't really have it in him to doubt anything at this point, or the will to try guessing into it.
And nothing looks like it's changed or whatever. He wanders the halls... not unobtrusively, he's still not quite "together" enough to manage that, but quietly. He passes by the kitchen. Looks into the courtyard, though he doesn't go out - feels a chill on the thought of doing so, nope no exposure for him, right now, thanks...
And as simultaneously distracted and tuned out as he is right now, he will start at any sound of lone footsteps around me - will reel around with his arms extended at his sides and hands up at the elbows, gasping with voice and wide eyes.]
B. The Hobby Room.
[He hadn't gotten a good look at the hobby room, but... hey. Maybe he should. If there's no out... nothing like an old favorite movie to make someone feel, even by B.S.-ing, that things are all right for now.
From the glance he had gotten at it, it, like all other rooms before it, does look like an ordinary rec room.
He notes the video games - has half a mind to check if anything Chris had ever mentioned was ever in there, and then on a mental static shock shoves that thought away, don't, don't think about them for now, don't think about them for now, just -- just focus, focus... focus on the here-and-now.
But then he goes straight to the movies. The thing that he knows, better than some do, at least. Won't be a bad way to start actually calibrating with today. Put on a good movie, let it run, just... remind yourself everything's real.
He starts flipping through, and as he does, ha - some part of him expected this to be the movie library of some alien location, hipster, or fake deep webby serial killer, but nope! He actually recognizes most of these, so there's that, but...
It's all so random. His complaint isn't even that it's low on classics, or low on horror, or anything. It's just... all over the place, based on the sample he's looking through. It's like a collection of films that the world's most clueless grandpa would cobble together before having the kidlets and grandkidlets and great-grandkidlets over.
And he can't help but actually pull a grin on one side. Still looking through films, giving a meandering shake of his head.
He says this not remotely without humor but muffled and partially behind his teeth:]
Shit -- sucks, man.

no subject
Holy shit, it's a dinosaur. It's a fuckin' dinosaur, it's a talking dinosaur, what is it doing here why is he seeing this -- ]
Shit -- ...!
[Inwardly-whispered and husky. Starts shaking his head erratically.]
Shit, shit shit shit. [And -- tries working his voice up a little more strongly. It comes out of a blockage and vibrates.] I, uh.
[And then it falls flatly dead in his throat. Take a moment, Josh... okay. He nods to himself. Then he swallows, and - still can't bring himself to look fully up at... her? It? Fff, whether or not this is all... seeing things, or a joke, or, heck, even real, or whatever, he'll... probably be able to see humor in bumping into a bright yellow dinosaur in a hallway once he's removed a bit from the actual experience, ha, probably...
Probably. Probably...
You're okay, Josh. Okay. Okay...
Shakes his head again.]
This is -- this is not --
[Was kinda mumbly on top of quivering again. Another swallow, and then, dragged, in a tone that might've sounded spaced-out casual in a different context:]
-- this is not real.
sorry for the way late backtagging, no hard feelings if you'd rather a new thread sometime
Well. Maybe he's got some kind of special powers, that let him realize what sort of person she really is. The idea crawls down her back, and she can't look at him either.]
Uhhh...
[And then the thing he finally says isn't about her at all. It's just that he's sure this isn't real.
For a moment, she has no words. It works out okay; he has all the words, even if they're mostly the repetition of 'shit', and there's no lengthy awkward silence between them. Just a muttering, stammering awkwardness.]
A-are you...
[The stammering awkwardness is mutual.]
Are y-you... okay? It seems like you... think you're dreaming?
