Um... I'm an AI. A log-keeping assistant from a spaceship called the Mugunghwa. A-anyway, that's not really the important thing here. Your stick? ... I don't know. I've been practically blind since I woke up earlier... if I saw it, I couldn't tell you, because I haven't had my glasses... which is to say, I've seen all sorts of things, but they've all been vague, blurry shapes.

[ Sorry, man. ]

But we could check my room, if you want? If someone is switching things around... maybe it ended up in my things somehow?
grimalkid: (surprise)

A spaceship? How-how does a ship even enter space? I thought the air up there would be too thin to breathe. [He'll finally hand over the glasses, though.] Then I guess you'll need them to check your room properly, right?
silentasterisk: (Confident ✼ I know this one!)

Do you want the stick to be in her room, or no?

[personal profile] silentasterisk 2017-03-06 05:19 pm (UTC)(link)
[ She takes them and then sighs, finally being able to see, pushing them up on her face. Then she squints a bit--oh, huh. You're interesting! ]

... Oh. You must be from a weird time period. Has interplanetary travel not become a thing yet where you live? Oxygen scrubbers are how that works. They take the air people expel and recycle them inside the ship, making it breathable again. Of course, trees do this job just fine, so there's some trees already on-board to help, but you can't have entire forests inside a giant metal ship out in space, it's too weighty... so, the tech does most of the work. The trees tended to be preserved for the upper crust of society.

[ She pauses, then rubs the back of her head. Oops. She got talking about... the sorta stuff her father did, didn't she? She always loved that sort of thing... she can't help it. ]

But, like I said, how the ship I was programmed on wasn't all that important, really. Let's go see if we can find your stick.
grimalkid: (intense stare)

That works for me!

[personal profile] grimalkid 2017-03-07 11:29 am (UTC)(link)
It has not. Is the Earth so damaged in your future that it becomes necessary to flee to another planet? [At least there are trees...]

Very well. Which way is your room? [He sticks his arms behind his head casually as he speaks.]
silentasterisk: (Amused ✼ I guess it's fine.)

Sorry this is so late, life... happened.

[personal profile] silentasterisk 2017-03-12 06:20 am (UTC)(link)
No, not at all. At least, I don't think so? I don't know, I was born--er, created on the ship. I've never even seen it. But my creators came from there and said it was beautiful and just fine! And my room's this way.

[ She'll motion and lead him there, and, sure enough, the stick is in there near her bed where her glasses usually are, leaning against the wall. ]
grimalkid: (smile)

No problem!

[personal profile] grimalkid 2017-03-12 08:38 am (UTC)(link)
And you trust them?

[He grins and rushes forward to grab the stick, swinging it back onto the usual spot on his shoulder.]

Nothing's missing. And your glasses aren't damaged or anything?
silentasterisk: (Bird ✼ Glancing.)

[personal profile] silentasterisk 2017-03-17 02:58 am (UTC)(link)
Of course I trust them. Why shouldn't I? They were two of the nicest people I knew! They were my parents! ... Or as close to parents as you can get.

[ She pauses, looking her glasses over. ]

They appear to be fine... and I can see okay, so I THINK they're fine?
grimalkid: (intense stare)

[personal profile] grimalkid 2017-03-17 04:08 pm (UTC)(link)
[He shrugs.] I don't see how that implies you can trust someone. Then again, I never had proper parents, so what do I know?
silentasterisk: (Profile ✼ Uncertain.)

[personal profile] silentasterisk 2017-03-23 02:59 pm (UTC)(link)
[ She sighs. ]

You probably wouldn't understand... it's... it's a bond that's different from just having friends or something. I've had... not so great people around me before, so trust me, I know. My creators were good people. The advances they worked toward were important.

[ Not to mention she's lying through her teeth, but she... can't just say, "they raised me." ]

Besides, honoring the people who raised you in Korean society, while not as big a deal as it used to be, is still kind of important. For me, it was less about that and more... they'd earned it, if you get what I mean. They gave me the tools I needed, so...
grimalkid: (chuckling)

[personal profile] grimalkid 2017-03-25 04:54 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, I see. So it's not just them being your parents. They also did good things for you. You're going to make me jealous.
