[Vex, meanwhile, woke up with an unfamiliar pair of boots in his room, so when he notices the guy walking around in socks, it's easy enough to put together, especially with the muttering about someone getting into the rooms.]

Gremlins, I'd imagine. Sneaky little buggers, get in no matter how well you lock up. Or Brownies, but I didn't ask anyone for extra shoes.

[It's a nice thing about being Fae; sometimes you can get away with saying things like this and no one knows whether you're speaking from experience or just spouting nonsense. Either way, he holds up the pair of boots, having gotten them once he spotted Mr. Shoeless wandering the halls.]

I'm guessing these belong to you.

( there's a slow turn of his head as noctis eyes the newcomer up at first, though none of what he's saying really makes sense until he sees the pair of boots in his hands. ) Hey— yeah. ( he reaches for them, definitely happy to see they haven't been lost to the abyss.

Wait, did you say 'brownies?' ( he's pretty sure desserts don't do these kinds of things, dude. though he knows a chef that might be interested in hearing about it. gremlins on the other hand, he might be able to understand... )

( he's not exactly biting, but he's definitely giving you the side-eye there, vex. way to come out looking crazy... not that this whole situation wasn't crazy to begin with, mind you. he's picking up on some of that sarcasm, at least. ) Riiiight...

( either way, noctis is happy to have his shoes back. so here he goes, leaning against the wall and putting them on. ) Where did you find them, anyway? I've been looking all morning.

[He's used to that kind of reaction so it doesn't bother him.]

In my room, for some reason. [He sounds a little annoyed by that, if anything.] Wake up, and there's an extra set of shoes by my bed. Not even my size.

So I'm guessing you have no idea how they got there either, since the gremlins excuse just doesn't quite cut it, I mean. ( and ignoring the brownie one all together, seems like the much more sane option. )

Anyway, uh. Thanks. I'm... Noctis. Though I guess you met my boots before me. ( and then, under his breath— ) Pretty sure that's a first...

Granted neither he nor Noctis would have wanted his shoes moved, but brownies can do some pretty strange things when they're annoyed. Either way, he just shrugs at the comment, because no, he really doesn't have a better explanation.]
